Good morning — this is Cory with Clear Property Management. We are officially on day five of what people are calling “Snowageddon” here in Central Arkansas.
Our team is still out checking properties, making sure tenants are doing okay, and keeping a close eye on both vacant homes and temporarily vacant homes while this winter weather continues.
Current Winter Conditions & What We’re Seeing
So far, we’ve seen a small uptick in minor issues, but thankfully nothing major at this point — fingers crossed it stays that way.
Temperatures today and tomorrow are expected to rise above freezing, likely into the mid-40s, which should help with thawing — especially on roads. That said, many secondary roads are still solid sheets of ice, so travel is slow and cautious.
After that short warm-up, temperatures are expected to drop again through the weekend before returning to more normal winter conditions.
How We’re Handling Vacant & Temporarily Vacant Homes
Even as conditions improve slightly, we are not letting our guard down.
We are continuing to:
- Check all vacant properties
- Check homes where residents are temporarily out of town
- Treat those homes exactly the same as vacant houses
- Confirm heat is on
- Monitor plumbing
- Ensure preventative measures stay in place
Currently, we have four to five homes where residents are away, and each one is being checked regularly to prevent frozen pipes or other weather-related issues.
Why Proactive Property Management Matters
Winter storms don’t care whether a home is occupied or vacant — problems can happen quickly if no one is watching.
Our goal is simple:
- Prevent damage
- Protect owners’ investments
- Keep residents safe
- Address issues before they turn into emergencies
This proactive approach is what allows us to manage extreme weather events without widespread damage.
Helping Beyond Our Properties
This storm has reminded everyone how important community is. Even outside of our managed properties, we’ve been helping where we can. Just the other day, a neighbor couldn’t get out of their driveway, so I grabbed groceries for them and dropped them off.
They paid me back with cookies — so honestly, it worked out pretty well.
