Hello, hello — and Happy Thanksgiving! We are almost there on this series of new-construction walkthroughs. Today I’m back in Maumelle, Arkansas, touring another brand-new DR Horton home. Earlier this week, I filmed a partially completed version of this plan, and several people reached out asking what the finished product actually looks like.
One of the DR Horton reps messaged me and let me know that the Cali floor plan I showed previously — the one on the pond lot in the back corner — actually fell out of contract due to the buyer’s financing. Tough break for them, but it gives us a great opportunity to see a fully finished Cali plan in person.
So I ran over here to capture it for you while everything is still fresh and move-in ready.
Front Bedrooms & Layout
Walking in, you’ll immediately see the two front bedrooms off the entry hall. Each room is a solid size with closets and easy access to the shared bathroom. This version includes a double-sink vanity, which is great for families, roommates, or guests. The flooring throughout the main areas is luxury vinyl plank, which holds up extremely well over time — especially here in Arkansas where humidity is a factor.
DR Horton also uses more modern light switches and trim, giving the home a clean, updated feel compared to some of the other builders in Central Arkansas.
Oversized Lot Advantage
One of the biggest perks of this particular home is the lot size. When you walk out front, you can immediately tell this is an oversized corner lot. Beyond that, you’ve got the neighborhood walking trail just behind the property and a wide open green area. Based on the spacing, I don’t believe another home will ever be built directly behind this one.
This is easily one of the largest lots in this entire DR Horton section, which is a huge bonus.
Homes on both sides are still completing construction, and you can see other owners beginning to move in. The neighborhood is definitely growing.
Third Bedroom, Laundry & Garage
Moving back inside, the middle bedroom features tall ceilings and a larger closet—another upgrade compared to several other DR Horton plans. Laundry access and the garage entry are also positioned conveniently off the hallway. Everything feels intentional, open, and easy to navigate.
Fans are installed throughout the secondary bedrooms too. This is something DR Horton does well that many other builders skip by default. In Arkansas, good airflow isn’t optional — it’s a necessity.
Living Room & Kitchen Design
The main living area is wide open with big windows and incredible natural light. DR Horton consistently uses these oversized kitchen islands, and this one is no different — plenty of workspace plus room for up to four barstools.
The kitchen includes a tiled backsplash, granite countertops, and stainless-ready spaces for your appliances. The pantry is modest, but there’s additional closet space nearby, which could easily serve as extra storage for dry goods.
The interior drywall finish has DR Horton’s signature subtle texture, which looks sharp, especially under strong natural light.
Primary Suite
The primary bedroom sits at the back of the home with large windows and its own ceiling fan. In the en-suite bathroom, you’ll find:
- A soaking tub
- A low-entry walk-in shower (great for accessibility)
- A dual-sink vanity
- Tile extending nearly to the ceiling
- A very large walk-in closet, true to the Cali plan
It’s a functional and comfortable layout that multiple buyers love.
Backyard, Pond, and Fence Requirements
Now stepping outside—this backyard is fantastic. Because of the corner location, the lot feels even bigger when you’re standing in it. You can see the pond on the back side of the neighborhood along with the paved walking trail that wraps around it.
You can fence the yard, but because of the pond designation, you’ll need to install black iron fencing along the back property line, with privacy fence allowed on each side. Stakes marking the property boundaries are visible, so you get a clear idea of where everything will sit.
This is an excellent outdoor space, especially for those who want a better-than-average new-construction lot.
Final Thoughts
This is the Cali Plan — fully completed and move-in ready — located in Maumelle, Arkansas. Clean finishes, open layout, premium lot, and access to the pond and neighborhood walking trail. With the previous buyers falling out, this home is available again and absolutely worth a look.
